A Research Exploration Into Colours, Shapes and Patterns

Stitching Surfaces is a project born from a material experimentation. More precisely this project is an investigation about the interaction between different materials through specific textile techniques that are generally applied to fabrics, like stitching or weaving. The main focus of the research is the result which comes applying different combination in terms of material juxtaposition, colour interactions, textures, three-dimensional patterns. For each piece a base material frame is designed and realized with the laser cut machine. The second phase is the application of the textile technique on the surface. In the weaving technique the main result is the two dimensional pattern which create unusual surfaces mixing fabrics with soft material like polyurethane foam. In the hybrid technique (between braiding and stitching) the laser cut material and the cotton / elastic bands mixed together create a vivid rhythm and a coloured reticulum.
